    Through its “Ask the People Initiative” the organisation has, since late 2016 organised an 8-week radio phone-in-programme during which jingles in local languages have been played and a 4-week television series - both have been effective in empowering Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and community members with necessary information for them to be actively involved in the anti-corruption crusade.

    With the passing of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 in 2015, the role of youth in peacebuilding and preventing violent extremism has been elevated. Youth can no longer be seen as passive bystanders to peacebuilding, but must be actively engaged in processes of building and shaping peace.

    Following successful collection of arms in Grabo (San Pedro), through the Disarmament Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme, the project rewarded Grabo community with a renovated health centre – this will significantly help in reducing maternal mortality in the community.

    In continuing with its efforts aimed at strengthening partnerships and broadening stakeholder participation in national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programmes, the Government of Nigeria inaugurated the Donors’ Forum on the Implementation of SDGs. The inauguration of the Forum came just two months after the launch of the Private Sector Advisory Group on SDGs.

    Nigeria joined other countries across the globe in launching the 2016 Global Human Development Report. Under the theme “Human Development for Everyone” the report highlights some of the barriers still hindering development to reach everyone everywhere. Globally, more than 1 billion people have escaped extreme poverty since 1990 – yet many are left behind. Despite remarkable progress, 1 in 3 people still live in low human development.

  • Edward meets former President Obasanjo, seeks stronger partnership with Lagos State Apr 14, 2017

    During his first visit to the southwestern geopolitical zone of Nigeria, Edward met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo (1999 to 2007) at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. During the meeting, the two discussed a wide range of national development issues and exchanged ideas on options for effective delivery of development support to the Government and people of Nigeria.
