The conference was organized to develop an engagement platform between youth civil society organizations and youth leaders of political parties and to validate the Nigerian Agenda on youth political participation.

The ongoing support of the UNDP to Nigerian political parties has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of the Political Party Leadership and Policy Development Centre (PPLPDC) at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). The event, which took place on June 26 2013, was attended by over 150 people including political leaders, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organizations and the media.

Helping Nigerians fight floods

Cecilia Ameh, a mother of four, was among over seven million Nigerians affected by the severe floods which swept through the country last year. At least 363 persons died. Although no one died in her family in Makurdi (north central Nigeria), their house was damaged – one of the 597,476 houses damaged or destroyed by the floods. Mrs. Ameh and her family are still trying to pick up the pieces of their lives.
