The Covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria: Potential impact on the North-East - Brief 2

Nigeria braces itself to be part of what is most likely a third wave of the outbreak – along with many of the world’s developing countries - where the virus will interact with significantly lower healthcare capacities and multiple preexisting fragilities. Implications of an outbreak in the country’s protracted conflict and security zones of the North-East could be particularly catastrophic – significantly altering the country and its psyche.
This policy brief focuses on the potential impact of COVID-19 on Nigeria’s North-East region, including on the most vulnerable populations and security implications in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states.
